A licence application has been made for the Epping Roof Garden nightclub in Cottis Lane, to open until 3am on Sundays and until 2am on some other nights. This will be considered by the district council's licensing committee on Monday 6th May.
Epping Town Council believes the extended times sought "are inappropriate for the rural town of Epping".
Their objection adds: "There are a lot of new homes being built in the area that would suffer from the venue noise and the aftermath of patrons leaving. There have been reported issues of public disor- der along with rubbish, including broken glass being left along the High Street, when extensions have been previously granted for Bank Holiday events. Fal- conry Court, formally an office block, is in the process of being converted into flats and is directly opposite the venue. Sunday to Wednesday until 2am, and Thursday to Saturday until 3am are not acceptable times for this area. The Town Council felt that Sunday to Wednesday until midnight, and Thursday to Saturday until 1am would be more in keeping with this rural town, with con- sideration given to New Year's Eve as a special event'
Epping town, district and county councillor Holly Whitbread has submitted an individual objection stating the requested hours are "far too late given this is a residential area, especially with the new residential properties behind". She added: "Historically this has caused many issues with anti-social behaviour in Epping High Street and disrupts the lives of residents."
Essex Police had "no representations" regarding the application. If you have views on this matter you have only until 5th May.. Contact your local District Councillor or Cllr Paul Keska, who is the Portfolio Holder ,
