'Nobody buries good news'. That was a conclusion reached in our press release about the Epping South Masterplan Consultation outcomes which you can read in full by clicking below or downloading at the bottom of this page.
For those of you reading this who are not yet familiar, the Epping South Masterplan is a proposal to build 450 plus homes in Epping on an extensive patch of land running close to the M25. Last summer the council conducted an extensive consultation with residents including public meetings.
Having concluded the consultation we noticed that everything seemed to go quiet. As hard as we looked, we could find no reference to the outcome of the consultation. At this point we draw you back to where this article started 'Nobody buries good news'.
We therefore took proactive action and submitted a 'Freedom of Information' request and the council were obliged to release the full document to us.
We are pleased to now make the full document available to you and can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. We will endeavour to make a web friendly version available in due course but at over 300 pages it will take some time.
We of course have read the document so you don't have to and have summarised our take in the press release. However reading it, you can see why the council have not made this document widely available.
A staggering 70 plus % of respondents are against the proposals which in itself should give the council pause for thought and either abandon the plans or completely overhaul them and go out to consultation again in the hope of gaining majority support.
The Council work for us and are paid by us so it is not unreasonable to suggest that they have a very careful rethink. Public opinion is NOT on their side and they should remember that they are there to represent the people of Epping.
