It is with great sadness but understanding that we have learned that after 58 years, Piccola is closing it's doors for the final tine on 24th December.
Piccola opened on 11th July, 1966 which we imagined was not the greatest day for trading as it was the day that England played, and last won) the World Cup so most of the nation would have been glued to their TV's and Radio's.

For 58 Years the shop and it's owners have become firm fixtures in the town. The name is an Italian term of endearment spoken by parents to their children and translates into 'sweetheart', 'darling' or 'little one'. Both the original owners (one of whom still runs the shop) had Italian partners at the time so the name seemed suitable.
On the Piccola website they joke that they are now serving Grandparents who first came into the shop as children.
Many of us in Epping and beyond will forever hold treasured memories of buying our young children and grandchildren gifts from Piccola and hearing the Noddy song as we pass by.

On behalf of the Epping Society and all residents we thank the owners and staff of Piccola for brightening up our town and for providing much treasured memories and we wish you every happiness in the future as indeed you have provided so many children and adults happiness. You will not be forgotten.
